As Christmas is getting ever nearer perhaps 5 cool things is getting even more important for those last-minute gift ideas. This week, we've got you covered with a pile of fresh kit in for testing from brands such as Shimano, Scott, Bontrager, Muc-Off, and Fist. Here's the gear you can expect to be reviewed soon.

- Buyer's guide to mountain bike pedals - what's best, flats or clips?
Shimano GR9 shoes
£140
The GR9 (GR903) shoes are pretty new in Shimano's footwear range. It's the brand's flagship downhill/enduro shoe that gets improved protection, comfort, and pedal contact, says Shimano.
It's built with a reinforced synthetic leather upper with some mesh panels for breathability. As you can see, there's a lace closure and Shimano has reengineered the last to cover a wider range of foot shapes. Though, most notable it comes with ULTREAD, Shimano's brand new outsole rubber compound and tread pattern.
Muc-Off Mountain Bike Jacket
£175
Muc-Off says that the Mountain Bike Jacket is designed to be heavy duty but lightweight. It's built using the brand's own 3-layer waterproof and breathable M.O.D 94 fabric. It's also been designed with ergonomics in mind to allow for a huge range of movement while keeping the user nice and comfy.
Then, that fabric has been treated with Muc-Off's own DWR treatment.
Scott Argo Plus
£75
At first look, Scott's new Argo helmet might look a bit like the well-reviewed Stego Plus helmet but the Argo comes at a much lower price.
It's designed to be lightweight and it comes sorted with MIPS and optimised ventilation to keep riders properly cool. Along with that, there's a glasses garage at the back of the helmet to securely store any eyewear. We love that colour too.
Fist Handwear Evel Knievel gloves
£33
Evel Knievel, a man known for fearlessly leaping over swathes of busses and often... Crashing.
In celebration of Mr. Knievel's feats of airtime, Fist Handwear has released the Evel Knievel gloves and I reckon they look pretty cool. They come built with pre-curved Clarino palms, sublimated twill spandex uppers with silicone prints on the palm for grip. These gloves come as part of Fist Handwear's limited run of Knievel themed kit, so grab yours quickly.
We can't promise that they'll get you jumping as much victim traffic as the big man though...
Bontrager Rapid Pack Hydro
£95
Last but absolutely not least is Bontrager's Paid Pack Hydro hip pack. It's said that it can carry all of your ride essentials along with a 1.5L bladder. If that's not enough, there's even space for a water bottle in the middle along with two side pockets. We like a hip pack here, so we're excited to see how this one reviews.
