This week's 5 cool things sees in a whole bunch of fresh to the market kit. We've got even more shoes from FiveTen, Ergon's new hip pack, Cotic's down country ripper and a super clever track pump from Topeak that everyone in the office is unashamedly excited about. Topeak Joe Blow Tubi 2Stage track pump

Kicking off this week's 5 cool things, we've got Topeak's brand new Joe Blow Tubi 2Stage track pump and we're all very excited about this one. What's super cool about this bit of kit is that it comes with a very special TubiHead that lets you remove your valve core with a twist of the back of the head, keeping the valve core safe inside of the head allowing the pump to deliver its full might without any pressure or sealant loss.
That's not all though, because it lives up to it's 2Stage name by offering a high pressure or high volume air delivery with the flick of a switch. That means it'll reach up to 30 psi with 30% less effort when in stage 1, says Topeak, ideal for tubeless mountain bike set ups. Then in stage 2, the pump utilises a smaller barrel to deliver higher pressure up to 160psi.
This one is going home with Jessica and we're looking forward to seeing what she thinks.

Ergon BA Hip Pack

Another new bit of kit for 2022 is Ergon's BA Hip Pack. The brand has put years of experience designing conventional back packs into a hip pack, adding a slip-resistant hip belt and a compression system, ensuring a reliable and stable fit. There's also a twist mechanism allowing the user to compress the whole bag, and its contents to make it as low profile as possible, hopefully reducing any wobble.
It can also fit a hydration bladder if that's your thing with its 3 litre capacity. Then there's a whole load of pockets and a built in protection holder, built to carry pads or even a spare jacket.
Cotic FlareMAX G4
£4,639
Cotic's FlareMAX was updated back in May and we were hot to get one in for testing. This year it gets a down country spin but with a super progressive geometry with its 490mm reach. It rolls on 29" wheels and gets 125mm of suspension at the rear, with 120mm up front handled by a RockShox SID Ultimate.
We're looking forward to finding out whether this bike is as fast as it looks.
FiveTen Trailcross GORE-TEX shoes
£150
FiveTen's new Trailcross GORE-TEX mountain bike shoes are made to be just as capable off the bike as they are on. They're designed to take on any conditions thanks to a waterproof but breathable GORE-TEX membrane. FiveTen also say's that they're lightweight and have the cushioned feel of a trail running shoe, ideal for those hike-a-bike moments.
There's then a pair of neoprene cuffs to keep crud out and of course, there's FiveTen's famed dual-compound Stealth outsole.

Boost Coffee Co. Coffee Batch No.3 Bundle

Wrapping up this week's 5 cool things, we've wrangled some coffee from our mates at Boost Coffee Co. to keep us going during those long office days. Our pack comes with three specially curated coffees in the form of the Venture, Cadre and Trail Ahead roasts, although we were too keen to tear into the latter, hence why it's not pictured!
Each of Boost Coffee Co.'s single-origin batches is roasted in rounds of three and they're each selected to complement and contrast each other. They're also all ethically sourced and for us, Boost Coffee Co. is fairly local, being based in the Forest of Dean.

Interesting head on that Topeak, it will be an interesting review.
I'd love to give a first impression on the FiveTens but, as is traditional, since they arrived ten days ago there's been zero rain and trails that have been wet all summer are bone dry
We're having the exact same problem. It's almost as if we can't wait for the rain to come!
