Transition has been making quite a lot a noise this year with the introduction of a load of new bikes and alongside them a brand new industry acronym - S.B.G. The new concept has re-lit the fire surrounding the topic of fork offsets and what the alteration of them means for the rider. We take a look at the new 29er, the Smuggler, the idea behind SBG and attempt to explain all in this video.

At a glance, the Smuggler has upped its travel for 2018, from 115mm to 120mm at the rear. Things also get longer up front with 140mm forks specified rather than 130mm as seen last year. Elsewhere, the head angle is slacker sitting at 66 degrees, the seat tube is steeper at 76.3 degrees, the seat tube is also shorter now measuring 410mm (medium bike), the chainstays are shorter at 430mm and the wheelbase is longer at 1184mm.

We've briefly forgone our promise to get the more affordable bikes in got the top spec model to test (please forgive our sins), this alloy bike features Fox 34 Float Fit 4 Performance Elite forks, Fox DPS Performance Elite shock, carbon SRAM Truavit Descendant cranks, an XO1 mech, GX eagle cassette, SRAM RSC brakes, E13 wheels, Maxxis tyres and a 125mm Rockshox Reverb dropper post. The brand claims the weight of this bike to be 31.1lbs but we've weighed it as close to 34lbs.
