First in Giant's pair of fresh lids is the Roost, designed to be a bit of an all-rounder but the brand has brought big changes. With a sleek new look, Giant has built the Roost with a new head form which is said to offer a better fit than before. It also benefits from Mips and 12 vents to encourage plenty of airflow. Upping the protection even more, are in-moulded upper and lower PC shells that are said not to compromise on weight.
As for its adjustment, it comes with a dual-arm, snap-in three-position rear height adjustment, as well as the usual circumference adjustment that's tweaked with a dial at the rear of the helmet.
With all of this, the Roost has scored a five-star safety rating from the Virginia Tech Helmet Safety Lab.
Next up is the Rail and it's received a bunch of similar changes but it gets a few more features to give it a premium feel. As such, it's designed with a rounder head shape that's said to offer a more universal fit and it gets Mips Air Node, a model of Mip's that's integrated into the helmet's padding. There's then more protection provided by a three-layer system built up of in-moulded upper, sub and lower PC shells.
This one gets 21 vents for cooling and there's a four-position height adjustment as well as a Fidlock buckle. On top of all of that, the Rail gets a large portion at the top allowing space for mounting accessories such as action cameras or lights.
The Rail has also scored a five-star rating from Virginia Tech.
Both helmets come in three sizes, from S up to L to fit heads from 51 to 63cm in circumference with the Roost claimed to weigh 385g in a medium and the Rail, 360g in the same size.
As for prices, they're $190 USD or €170 for Rail and $110 USD or €100 for Roost.
