After several race-winning prototypes, Hunt has launched two new carbon wheelsets, the Proven Carbon Race XC and Race Enduro. These wheels have been made with cross-country and Enduro racing in mind and will look to challenge the best trail and enduro mountain bike wheelsets for the top spot in the caregory.

Proven is an entirely new range of carbon fibre mountain bike wheel systems, developed in-house by Hunt engineers and tested by sponsored athletes and riders over the past two racing seasons.

Hunt says the Proven Carbon Race XC has been built for lightweight cross-country mountain bikes with up to 120mm travel, to offer compliance, damping, control, and strength without sacrificing weight.
The rims are 30mm wide internally and have 22mm depth to keep the weight low; this race-ready wheelset weighs in at 1,469g.

Hunt has also chosen premium cold-forged triple-butted, straight-pull spokes and laced them to CNC machined hubs with dual sealed Revo bearings to further reduce weight. The hub, which is only available in the Boost spacing for the XC model, offers a quick, five-degree engagement for maximum control and pedal efficiency.
The Proven Carbon Race XC is only available in 29-inch wheel format.

Building on their predecessor, the Hunt All Mountain Carbon H_Impact, the Proven Carbon Race Enduro utilises the Race XC's tuned carbon lay-up but expands on this concept by offering front- and rear-specific rims and spoke gauges. Hunt claims that this wheelset delivers accuracy, comfort and strength - while weighing less than 2kg.
The Race Enduro rims have the same 23mm depth and 30mm internal width, but their carbon lay-up and construction claim to be tailored for Enduro riding, where repeated hard hits and long descents can lead to fatigue and arm pump on an overly stiff wheelset. This difference in the wheels is tangible in their weight; the rear one weighs 61g more because of the added strength and stability.

Differences between the front and rear are visible also in the spokes. At the front, the Race Enduro has Pillar triple-butted TB2016 spokes, and Pillar TB2018 at the rear provide the optimal amount of precision thanks to the slightly wider gauge.
The wheels also feature durable CNC-machined hubs, featuring flex-resistant heat-treated axles, dual-sealed, replaceable Revo bearings and the customer’s choice of freehub. Race Enduro is available in both Boost and Super Boost hub spacings, and in 29-, 27-inch and mullet options.
