Hunt releases all-new 42 Limitless Gravel Adventure wheelset
Built around the 42 Limitless rim profile, Hunt has today revealed the 42 Limitless Gravel Adventure wheelset. Developed together with Hunt Beyond athletes for the most gruelling ultra-endurance events, this wheelset has been designed to cope with the rigours of off-road exploration and adventure.

Weighing in at 1,642g (front/rear), each rim measures 42mm deep and boasts 36mm (external) and 25mm (internal) rim width. While these wheels are built around the 42 Limitless rim profile, there are a few key differences. Whilst Hunt says this wheelset is also aerodynamic, they also feature a slew of burlier attributes to help them deal with the rough-and-tumble nature of off-road riding.
Developed in line with the original 42 Limitless Gravel Aero wheelset, Hunt set out to repackage the same performance and technology into the adventure wheelset. However, as noted, there are a few key differences to make them more suitable for ultra races:
- The hubs use a new H-ratchet system (double-sided with two floating ratchet rings) that features a 40T ratchet and 9-degree engagement.
- The spoke count has risen to 24/28 (from 20/24).
- The nipples are made from brass, something the brand say gives 'maximum durability in adverse weather conditions.'
Tested by Hunt Beyond rider, Andy Cox during his tour of the US, the wheels were given further updates and tested by Boru McCullagh on his ride around the world. They also went through additional testing by Hunt engineers using a wind tunnel to capture data on how much time an 'aerodynamically optimised wheelset' could save a rider over the course of a race.
The wheels have revo bearings, J-bend pillar wing spokes and are designed to work with 38-42c gravel tyres. Available from the end of August for £1,300.
