Liv Cycling create the Devote - new women specific gravel bike range
Dedicated just to women, the sister company to Giant Bicycles, Liv Cycling, has just launched a new gravel bike. With carbon and aluminium bikes in the five model range, the Devote looks adventure ready for all budgets.
- The best gravel bikes we've tested that you can buy and get shipped to your door
- The best gravel and adventure bikes you can buy for under £1,000
- The best gravel and adventure bikes you can buy for under £2,000
The brand says the new Devote range was designed as the go-to bike for gravel grinders or any riding adventure, essentially its a fully-loaded, accessory-ready gravel bike for exploring on two wheels. We recently reviewed the older Liv Brava SLR and liked it, we're interested to get on the new Devote and see how the bike differs.
Liv designs their bike frames using size and shape data from women riders, the Devote Advanced bikes (carbon ones) also gets a frame and fork that is tuned specifically for women and geometry shaped around this worldwide female-only dimensional data. They says applying this data allows them to optimises weight distribution on the bike which puts the rider in the best position to maximise power and efficiency.
“Our designers focused on building a clean, contoured frame that prioritizes women’s-specific geometry and shock absorption, along with key features like internal cable routing, dropper seatpost compatibility on Advanced-Grade Composite frames and a versatile wheelset,” said Ludi Scholz, Liv Cycling’s product category manager. “All of this gives riders the ability to tackle any adventure regardless of terrain.”
In terms of features, all bikes get a carbon fork, clearance for 700 x 45c tyres and D-Fuse shaped seat tubes and seat posts which Liv and Giant both use to dampen vibrations. The Alloy version of the bike will get a fixed D-Fuse seat post whilst the carbon bikes get additional Giant Contact Switch Dropper post. The devote bikes get a round seat tube, then there is a shim/plate that goes behind the D-Fuse seat post to make it fit, this means the dropper slots straight in.
The brand says they gave the bike sloping top tubes for lower standover and to make a smaller front triangle giving a lighter stiffer bike. Elsewhere, the Devote is compatible with fenders and racks, has internal cable routing and features three water bottle mounts on all frame sizes.
The Devote Advanced features flat-mount disc brakes integrated into the frame and all bikes use the brand's OverDrive steerer which is meant to provide more precise steering.
