Liv goes peak trail with the Intrigue X mountain bike
Positioned between the brand’s Intrigue 29 and Intrigue LT models, the X features 140mm of suspension travel and a 150mm fork. It is configured for women who are committed trail riders, requiring something more than a downcountry bike – but not quite an enduro machine.

Available in aluminium or carbon frame options, Liv’s product planners have prioritized a size-specific build approach. The XS and S frames roll MX wheels (29-inch front, 27.5-inch rear), with the M and L frames being true 29ers. Riders can use the Liv X’s versatile geometry adjustments to retrofit a 27.5-inch rear wheel to the M or L frames if they wish.
You can change more than angles…
The most noteworthy features of these new Liv X frames aren’t readily noticeable – but they make a significant difference. Engineers and industrial designers have integrated two frame geometry adjustment points: a flip chip in the Maestro 3 rear suspension’s rocker and an adjustable headset.
Several trail bikes have geometry adjustment chips on their suspension but Liv’s X offers a lot more adjustability with its two adjustment points. Riders can lower the bottom bracket by 5mm (to enhance cornering agility for switchbacks), slacken the head angle by 0.4-degrees (for steep descents) and vary the reach.
What are the baseline geometry numbers, and how are those adjustment features incorporated into them? The Liv X can be set up with three head angles (64.4-, 64.8- and 65.1-degrees), while reach is generously variable, too. For reference, you can select reach numbers of 436-, 440-, or 444mm on a size M frame.
The Liv X range
Entry to these new women’s specific trail bikes is with the aluminium Intrigue X2, at £3,299. It features a Fox 36 Float Rhythm fork, Float rear shock, Shimano Deore 1x12 drivetrain, and Shimano 4-piston BR-MT420 brakes. Rolling the Intrigue X2 along are Giant TRA 2 alloy wheels.
A £4,000 upgrade to the Intrigue X1 enhances suspension specification to Fox Float Performance grade. You also gain Shimano SLX drivetrain bits, Shimano BR-MT520 brakes and a slightly lighter version of Giant’s TRA series alloy wheels.
For UK buyers, the most affordable of the carbon Liv X derivative is the £5,000 Advanced X2, which features identical build specifications to the aluminium X2 but for its Giant TRX carbon wheels. The £6,000 Advanced X1 matches the aluminium X1 for suspension spec but you get AXS GX wireless shifting and those TRX carbon wheels.
The premium build with Liv’s new trail bike range is the X Advanced X0 at £6,999. It has Fox Factory suspension and SRAM wireless AXS XO drivetrain components, with Shimano XT four-piston brakes.
All Liv X builds have similar trail-centric cockpit geometry, with 760mm wide handlebars clamped by 50mm stems (40mm on the XS). The largest frame sizes use 780mm handlebars. The aluminium and carbon Liv X frames also feature integrated protection and in-frame downtube storage.
True to their trail riding purpose, Liv product planners have chosen proven Maxxis tyres for the X range with Minion DHF 2.5in width tyres up front, and Dissectors 2.4in rubber at the rear.
