More and more kids are being introduced to mountain biking at a young age and PNW Components has answered the calls for a kids specific dropper post with the all new Fern Dropper. It's a dropper post built with a host of neat features to make life on the bike as easy as it can get for small hands and growing riders.

The Fern Dropper post brings the renowned reliability of PNW's existing dropper post line-up to a kid-friendly package. However, the brand has built it to require less weight and effort to drop the saddle.
It goes without saying but your usual dropper post is built to take an adult's amount of weight to drop the post. Then the force it takes to actuate the lever is designed around an adult's strength. Because of that PNW has kitted the Fern Dropper Post with a specially designed cartridge that operates at much lower pressures. The brand says that the minimum weight required to operate the dropper is 20kg.
PNW has taken a child's lightning fast growth into consideration and has built the Fern Dropper Post with external cable routing. This means that you can easily swap the dropper from bike to bike without having to content with the struggle that often comes with internally routed posts.
The lower pressure cartridge then means that the Fern Dropper Post is compatible with any of PNW's levers, offering the same drop with less effort.
PNW says that the Fern Dropper isn't just about getting your kids using dropper posts but it's also about getting more kids into riding. As such, 5% of every Fern Dropper Post sold will be donated to Trips For Kids to support their mission.
Moving onto the techy stuff, the new dropper post comes in a 27.2mm diameter, with 90mm of travel.
