Shimano EX500 and EX500W adventure shoes
Said to be the 'pinnacle' of the EX-range, the EX500 and EX500W (women's specific) are going to replace the MT502 in Shimano's line-up of off-road shoes. These shoes are recommended for bikepacking and off-grid adventures. They have a lightweight, mesh-panelled upper, secure speed lace system (with an instep strap) and EVA midsole. They offer SPD compatibility and are made from 25 per cent recyclable materials weighing 359g (in size 42 men's) and 339g (in size 40 women's). They are available now and will retail for €130.
- Men's colours: Olive and Black
- Men's sizes: 38 - 48, full sizes only
- Women's colours: Black and Plum
- Women's sizes: 36 - 44, full sizes only
Shimano EX900 adventure shoes
The Shimano EX900 shoes are designed for rugged touring, offering a hiking-inspired design. They have a breathable mesh upper, waterproof Gore-Tex performance liner and dual-dial Boa fit system. The mesh upper and midsole are made from 18% recycled materials. The EX900 also offer an ULTREAD EX-specific outsole that the brand says pairs best with the PD-M8120 or PD-EH500 SPD pedal systems.
They are 442g (in size 42), available in black and in sizes 38-48 and will set you back €280.
Shimano ET701 and ET501 e-bike shoes
Due to the growing popularity of e-bikes and e-MTB in particular, Shimano has also launched the flat-sole ET701 and ET501 touring shoes.
The ET701 feature Shimano's Splashshield membrane which provides a degree of water resistance. The shoes also utilise a tri-panel closure with Boa Fit System, Shimano’s power transfer blade sole system and an EVA midsole made from up to 20% recyclable materials.
The ET501 is more of an all-rounder, sharing many of the features of the ET701. With a breathable mesh upper and speed lace system, Shimano recommends that both shoes pair best with the PD-T8000 or PD-EH500 flat pedal systems.
The shoes are available in both men's (38-48) and women's sizes (36-44). The ET701 retails for €170, while the ET501 will cost €110.
Shimano XC300W and XC100W shoes
To round out the range, Shimano has introduced two new colours to the XC300W and XC100W women-specific XC shoes. To go with the standard black colour option, the XC300W can now be had in a bronze colourway while the XC100W gets a new mahogany hue. Both shoes feature Shimano’s Dynalast system.
The XC300W is 309g (size 40) and available in sizes 36-44 for €120, and the XC100W is 310g (size 40), also available in sizes 36-44 for €100.
