The mainstay of the new 2FO Roost shoes, aside from the new casual, skate park looks is the 3rd generation SlipNot rubber sole. Developed to stick to pins when used on the flat pedal shoes, it's also used on the clipless Roost shoe to stick to larger platform clipless pedals keeping the feet even more secure.
The new sole gets a hexagon shaped pattern throughout with the clipless shoes getting a large, deep cleat recess too. Specialized says the new design of the outsole directs pedal pins into a secure position underfoot. They also reckon this pattern reduces wear for a longer lasting pair.
Elsewhere there is new Xpel Airmesh padding on the upper, rather than use foam, the brand says this material keeps the shoes as light as possible and has impact reducing properties too. Plus they say, along with the suede upper, it dries quickly too - that's a winner, coming into winter!
The flats will cost £100 and come in Black or Oak whilst the 2FO Roost Clips will be £110, in Black or Taupe colourways. You should be able to buy them online and in shops from today.
