Trek has updated its full-suspension Rail e-MTB range with a new Bosch smart system and Removable Integrated Battery (RIB), while top models gain updated frame design.

The newest Rail models equipped with the Bosch Smart System provide riders with up to 85Nm power to speed up hills, and the Tour+ and eMTB modes adjust the power automatically based on terrain and the rider’s own input to make the assistance feel natural.
Whereas most of the models are controlled with a Bosch Smart System LED Remote attached to the handlebars, top Rail models, the Rail 9.8 and 9.9 will feature Bosch’s System Controller that sits flush on the top tube for a clean look at ride stats and pairs with the new compact Mini Remote to easily change modes while riding. This resembles the screen we've seen on Trek's mid-level e-MTB, Fuel EXe, which was released in July last year.
Regardless of the display, all of the Rail models pair with Bosch’s eBike Flow app, which allows riders to customise assist, track ride metrics, map out and navigate routes, update wirelessly over Bluetooth, and even provide service recommendations.

All Rail models now come with the Removable Integrated Battery (RIB) system, which we’ve already seen on the Fuel EXe. RIB allows riders to easily remove the battery from the down tube without any tool for faster charges and safe storage during travel.
The componentry and geometry of the 2023 Trek Rail models remain much the same as before: 29-inch wheels and 150mm/160mm of travel, but to accommodate the integrated screen, the two top models have their top tubes changed slightly.
Those with older Rail models might want to know that none of the updated componentry will work with previous generation components and this includes the battery and chargers.
