Specialized Purist MoFlo Water Bottle review

The Specialized Purist MoFlo 22oz water bottle is a simple drinking bottle that is easy to drink from and doesn't retain any aftertaste, great for use with electrolytes or other recovery drinks.

This review covers the Specialized Purist 22oz (635ml) bottle with MoFlo cap, you'll need to ignore the pattern on this bottle, it's available in lots of different styles and we've had this one for a while. Whilst this looks like a regular bottle, Specialized employ 'Purist' tech, a carbon dioxide coating infused to the inner wall of the bottle which prevents any staining, any aftertastes residing and importantly any mould from taking hold. I use various electrolytes in my bottle when riding and I've found the Purist coating to be effective, with no weird tastes left when I revert to plain water. What's more, Spesh say the coating is natural and inert, so as well as being BPA-Free the bottle isn't putting any nasty chemicals inside you that it shouldn't.

The MoFlo is one of three different caps from Specialized, this one employs a simple up to drink, down to close function and gives a good flow of water. You can squeeze the malleable bottle or suck on the cap, both delivering plenty of fluid. The cap is pretty secure given that it has no locking feature, but as with any other water bottle of this design, accidents can happen.

There aren't too many negatives to this bottle, it looks old on the outside pretty quickly and at £11, it's on the expensive side of things but it is easy to clean and withstands hard work well!

Elsewhere the bottle gets a clear strip so you can see clearly how much juice you have left and a large diameter top making filling easy. The bottle retails at £11, pricey but I think worth the money, especially if you plan on using it with a Specialized side entry bottle cage. The two fit together impeccably, the bottle fits snugly and securely, it's easy to locate on the fly and hasn't once fallen out on the trail.
