ODI Longneck V2.1 lock on grips review

ODI's updated Longneck V2.1 grips use the classic ribbed pattern beloved by BMXers with a single-sided lock-on clamp and a super soft compound material. They're super secure and very comfortable without being overly bulky; retro done right.

The Longneck's 'mushroom' ribbed pattern is almost as old as the hills and there's a good reason it's stuck around, as it manages to give great comfort without being bulky. While there's a harder shell underneath, the outer is made from really rather soft TPE rubber which is said to help reduce vibration when riding. That seems to pan out in use, also giving really good grip in the wet and the dry.

The grips are held in place with a single-sided lock-on clamp that works really well. It also means the outside edge of the grip is now much softer if you like to rest your hands there while riding. There's a solid plastic end cap to prevent the bar from punching through the grip in a crash though.

All in all, I really like the way these grips work and feel. They offer great control and security with very impressive comfort, which can't be said for a lot of designs. Sometimes the old ways are the best.
