Shuupe oat based breakfast shake review

Shuupe is a tasty milk and gluten-free oat-based shake, its got ingredients you can pronounce, nothing artificial and it's healthy too. I've been using this 'breakfast shake' as a post-ride recovery style drink or snack and I love it.

The oat-based breakfast shake from Shuupe is a milkshake style drink that you can make in seconds and is super tasty. It comes in three flavours; chocolate, vanilla and strawberry, it's vegan, can be made dairy-free and is gluten-free too.

I was genuinely impressed by the ingredients list on the Shuupe  packs, for example the chocolate one contains gluten free oats, sunflower seeds, cocoa, pumpkin seeds, coconut, sesame seeds, almonds, chia seeds and stevia, all pretty good stuff, even that plant based sweetener on the end. It's refreshing to be able to eat/drink something that contains what I describe as real food.

It's low in sugar and relatively high in fat too thanks to those seeds and nuts, plenty of energy to be processed from each serving making it an ideal snack for cyclists. Each 40g serving provides 7.1g of protein, 8.6g of fat, 21g of carbs (0.4g of which sugars) and 5.4g of fibre. That is before you add your chosen milk, I mixed mine with either full fat milk or oat milk, both tasted great.

To make the drink you simply add four scoops to 200ml of milk and either blend or shake. I used my usual protein shaker bottle which takes rather vigorous shaking, making a quick blitz with my hand blender in a bowl my preferred method of preparation, it takes literally one minute. Due to the whole sesame seeds in the drink, it does have a 'bitty' texture rather than totally smooth but its not something that detracts from the taste.

Shuupe market this drink as a breakfast replacement shake but I'm very much a eggs for brekkie kind of girl so I've been using the product as a post-ride recovery drink, it's a tasty, filling and refreshing snack that hits the spot after a hot ride, especially when blended with some ice! at £12.99 for 500G it works out at a little over £1 a drink which isn't the cheapest but as a healthy, filling treat I don't think this is too bad at all. I've also spied some discount codes on Instagram so take a look there before you checkout.
