Gravity Grid handlebar review

Gravity’s Grid bar uses the oversized 35mm bar clamp standard and comes with a full 800mm width. It’s primarily designed for DH and freeride duties, but also for trail riding if you’re after the greater leverage and steering precision a wide bar can offer.

The Grid is double butted from 6061 aluminium, has a quality, matt sand-blasted finish that’s resistant to scratching and also cut marks for trimming the bar narrower if needed.

The 5-degree up and 8-degree backsweep numbers are on the money and the Grid shape feels natural, but I ended up rolling the bar slightly more forward than usual to get my personal sweet spot.

On the trails, Gravity’s bar is massively stiff, to the point I found it transmitted every impact and got pretty tiring and harsh and longer descents and rough tracks. This gives a precise, connected feel to the bike, but there’s hardly any give or compliance in the way the bar feeds back what’s happening at the tyre.

The Gravity Grid is a stiff bar - in fact, too stiff for our tastes

The Grid will suit the heaviest and hardest charging shredders, rather than lighter riders or those looking for comfort or a well-damped ride quality because of this and is too solid feeling for me.
