Spank Oozy 35 Bar review

The Spank Oozy 35 is a no nonsense alloy bar that is strong and reasonably priced, but it has the usual firm feel of an oversize bar and comes in a 25mm rise only – which might limit it a little.

Made from Zirconium Doped 7-Series Alloy, its 5° upsweep and 8° backsweep is comfy enough, and the 780mm width is usefully wide. It’s ‘adjustable’ to 740mm – as in, it can be cut down to 740mm but no further.

The shot-peened and anodised finish is classy, but scuffs easily whilst mounting controls, while the 25mm rise means you need to remove your stem's face clamp in most cases to get it on. There are handy angle markings for rotating them into just the right place, and a centre line too.

The Oozy 35 has a fairly firm ride feel – certainly firmer than the typical carbon 35mm option, with less flex and a lot more feedback than either a 31.8mm alloy or 35mm carbon bar. If you're after ultimate stiffness, this is the way to go, but over long distances than can be fatiguing.

There is nothing inherently wrong with this bar (especially if you want strength above all else), but nothing that shines either. It's a safe choice, then, if nothing else.
