Lauf Gritfest returns for 2023 - bigger than ever
Lauf Gritfest, a multiday gravel race in Wales, has opened entries for the 2023 edition, taking place over the weekend of 16-18 June 2023. This time, the event will include an optional prologue ride on Friday evening - and the full weekend includes seven timed stages, which will account for roughly 40% of the total distance covered.

The event, sponsored by Icelandic gravel bike brand Lauf, will take place in a new base camp in the small village of Rhandirmwyn in the Cambrian Mountains. The event is raced in a rally-style format; meaning there are timed special stages and untimed liaison sections that allow for some downtime in between. This makes it also a great place for novices to learn what gravel bike racing is about.
Lauf Gritfest has been a two-day event since its first iteration in 2018, but the 2023 edition will include an optional prologue on Friday - all included in the £120 entry fee. The fee also includes camping and a weekend of entertainment: live music, and other extras including a tug-of-war contest, making it a weekend for all.
"I've been lucky to have competed in some of the world's best cycling event, but they've also made me realise how superb the riding is on my doorstep, and it's a pleasure to be able to show others the breathtaking scenery and perfect gravel trails the Tywi valley and Cambrian Mountains have to offer. With the support from Lauf we can continue to develop the event, and make it World Class in both the riding and experience on offer,” said race director Matthew Page.
The entries are now open and you should get yours soon because this event sells out quickly.
