The Scratch NDR is Prologo's latest XC and marathon saddle
Prologo has added a fresh saddle to its range and this time the brand has collaborated with racers at the top of their game to create the Scratch NDR. The new saddle will look to upset the perennial players in the best mountain bike saddle space, boasting racing DNA that is said to improve comfort and performance where it's needed. Read on for all the details.
Prologo fans will already recognise the new saddle's design as it's based on the brand's existing Scratch M5. However, the designers took this saddle and refined it to perform on XC and marathon circuits.
The 250 x 140mm saddle utilises Multi Sector System tech which features different mapped and separated zones that work independently of each other to adapt to each phase of pedaling and the position of the rider. There are three zones on the Scratch NDR.
Two of the sections are found at the lateral-posterior area of the saddle and they're tuned to provide stability and comfort when the body is placed rearward on the saddle during lengthy climbs. These get variable-density EVA foam and it's 3mm thicker at this portion of the saddle for comfort. The cover here is then smooth, to allow for easier movement on the saddle.
The front of the saddle has been designed to tackle the steepest and most technical climbs. With that in mind, it gets a wide but flat nose section for comfort and support. Here, there's also a textured cover to maximise grip.
The Scratch NDR benefits from an anatomical shape that's been redesigned to better suit off-road disciplines. So the anatomical centre has been set back by 5mm to emphasise its 't-shape'. Prologo reckons that this increases freedom of movement, allowing the rider to vary their position in the saddle according to the terrain. It also boosts comfort while sitting towards the rear of the saddle.
Finally, this saddle will be available with a choice of two rail materials. One is built with Prologo's Nack carbon for those who want the most stiffness. If it's comfort you're after, there's then the alloy steel TiroX that's said to balance weight and strength while absorbing vibration.
The Prologo Scratch NDR is available online and at Prologo dealers with prices starting at €139 for the TiroX model and €219 for the Nack model.
