Giant unveil all new Trance X - progressive trail bike built for 2021
Spotted on the US Giant website yesterday was a new and reincarnated Trance X. 2021 see's this bike as a short travel trail ripper with aggressive geometry, decent specs for hard riding and low prices too.

- Best mountain bikes for under £3,000 - capable trail bikes that won't break the bank
- Best mountain bikes you can buy for under £2,000
The new aluminium short travel bike get 135mm of travel at rear and sits between the Trance 29 with 115mm of travel and the Reign which is now a 29er too with its 146mm of travel. Paired up with a150mm fork the Trance X sports some new-school angles and adjustable geometry too.
With a steep 77.9 degree effective seat tube angle, a 66 degree head angle (in the high position), a reach of 456,, and over 1200mm wheelbase on a medium, the Trance X looks like it will eat up technical trails for breakfast and still winch you back to the top in an efficient way.
Still using Giant's Maestro suspension, the bikes get Trunnion mounted shocks and a two-position adjustable chip located in the rocker linkage, moving the bikes from the low to the high position. Geometry changes include a 66.2 or 65.5-degree headtube and 77.9 or 77.2-degree seat tube angles, with a 30mm or 40mm bottom bracket drop.
The Trance X (back in 2013) was originally the company's first trail 29er with 120mm of travel and a 69 degree headagle - hard to imagine this as an aggressive trail bike but it's a good reminder of just how much times have changed! This year there are four sizes (S-XL) and three specs of bike:
- Trance X 29 1 - XT/SLX mis with Fox 36 Performance Elite fork and DPX2 shock
- Trance X 29 2 - SLX/MT500 mix with Fox 38 Rhythm fork and DPS shock ($3000 UDS)
- Trance X 29 3 - SRAM SX with Rockshox Gold 35 fork and DPS shock ($2,300 UDS)
We don't have details of the bike that will be hitting UK soil, we really hope there is plans to be one though! At bargain prices with good looking geometry, we think this bike will please a lot of UK trail riders!
