FlanRou Ribinoù - A 100k CX event over the Somerset Levels
The cyclocross endurance challenge Flanrou Ribinoù is back this year, on Sunday the 11th of June this weekend, perfect for Cyclocross riders and Mountain Bikers. There is an all new route this year, which is kept secret up until the morning of the event.
This untimed event sets off at 9 o'clock in the heart of the Somerset Levels, starting and ending at the popular cycling cafe Sweet's Tea Room. The route stretches over 100km, with sectors on road and off road, winding through the levels. If you pay entry online, it is £25 to enter, with limited availability; At the time of writing there were 91 spaces left out of 200. Also included in the entry are the feed stops and a race number.
Although the exact route is kept secret until the event, by looking at the last years' pictures you can expect there to be a mix of grassy bridleways, gravel and stone tracks, and single track country lanes. Although people have predominantly used CX bikes on the Ribinoù event, Mountain Bikes are also perfect to use.
If you are interested, you can visit the Flanrou website and the event's page on British Cycling to enter.
