Onto that testing, the Tactic 4 has been tested to meet INTA-8776 certification for use with e-bikes. Specialized also says that the helmet has received the top rating from Virginia Tech in their tests too.
Helping the helmet reach such safety standards, it comes built with MIPS Evolve, a low-friction layer that offers up to 15mm of rotational movement, adding vital protection from rotational impacts.
An interesting feature on the new Tactic 4 is that it comes with a fixed visor. In something of a strange move, considering almost all helmets at this price point come with a visor that has at least some adjustment, Specialized has tested it with a pool of riders, settling on what the brand reckons is the optimal position.
Specialized says that the fixed visor results in a cleaner design and allows for better glasses stowage, sun protection, and protection from branches. The most obvious benefit of a fixed visor is that it'll never come loose unless in a crash, where it's designed to break away cleanly.
Moving onto ventilation, the Specialized team designed the helmet from the inside out in order to make the most out of the Tactic's internal air channel volume. This promises a helmet that's drier for longer, cooler, and more comfortable.
The new Specialized Tactic 4 comes in three sizes, S up to L to fit heads from 51cm in circumference up to 61cm. A large is claimed to weigh in at 430g.
If a new e-bike certified helmet sounds right up your street, the Tactic will set you back £100.
