Although the Supacaz Orbitron flat pedal isn't a product manufactured by Specialized, the brand has called for a voluntary recall of the product after several warranty reports from riders and customers have stated substantial failure. Owners of a set of these pedals can work with Specialized and its dealers to return these pedals after the brand secures government approval.
The recall comes after several users noted that the pedal body has detached from the spindle, and/or the spindle has broken. Both of which cause a fairly serious falling hazard.
The product affected is the Supacaz Orbitron - CNC Alloy flat pedals with an SKU of 09122-3300. These pedals are only sold with an oil-slick colourway.
If you own a pair of the affected pedals Specialized is urging riders to stop riding them and take them back to the Authorized Specialized Retailer they were purchased from. If bought online, get in touch with Specialized Rider Care. Those who return their pedals will receive a full refund of the price paid.
