The Vento Proxy is Fizik's latest race-specific off-road shoe
Fizik loves a wild colourway and that's exactly the case with its new Vento Proxy. Its claims are as loud as its colourway because the shoe is properly sorted with race-ready features for gravel, cross-country, and cyclo-cross, which we will get into shortly.

With the new Vento Proxy shoe, Fizik has aimed to make it light and efficient while providing a tuneable fit. It gets a translucent PU-laminated mesh upper that's been chosen to reduce weight and bolster comfort. The construction is tearproof, too, says Fizik, so it should be more than ready to cope with the rough and tumble of off-road riding.
Hitting the mark for a tuneable fit is the addition of a single Li2 Boa Fit System. This allows the rider to tune the fit on the fly and Fizik states that adjustments can be made without affecting overall comfort. Boosting comfort further is the combination of a redesigned X3 fibre composite outsole which is stiffer than ever not to mention a new rubber tread, which is said to blend efficiency with both on- and off-pedal grip. The outsole is rated at eight on Fizik's stiffness index.
As for weight, Fizik says that the new shoe is 326g with the footbed removed. (The footbed is claimed to add 20g).
The Fizik Vento Proxy is available in sizes EU36 to 48 with 37 to 47 in half sizes. There are three colours on offer, coral/purple, white and black, and a pair will set you back £230.
